TV screens

Put a store’s live orders, today’s tasks, and who’s on duty on any TV — above the counter, in the kitchen, in the back office. A screen is read-only, needs no sign-in, and you can turn it off from Worklynq at any time.

What a TV can show

  • Order tracking: the store’s open orders in three columns — New, In progress, and Ready for pickup — longest wait on top. Orders waiting 15 minutes or more (and not yet ready) turn red. Square orders for the store show too. Orders leave the TV once they’re out for delivery or completed, and walk-in orders show just their number.
  • Operations today: today’s tasks and checklists at the store, one column per person, marked done, now, or overdue.
  • Who’s on duty: everyone on shift at the store. See Shifts.

Pick one view or several. With more than one, the TV switches between them on a timer you choose, and a new order always brings Order tracking to the front. The TV refreshes every 10 seconds, keeps the last information on screen if the network drops, and shows your company’s name next to the clock.

Set up a screen

Managers can set up screens: System Admins and roles that can manage tickets or projects.

  1. Open Order Tracking (with a store chosen) or Operations, and click Show on TV.
  2. Give the screen a name, like “Front counter TV”.
  3. Under What the TV shows, tick the views, and choose how often to switch between them.
  4. Connect a TV with a code (below), or get a link.

Each screen runs on one TV — connecting a second TV to the same screen stops the first. Make one screen per TV.

Connect a TV

With a code (easiest)

  1. On the TV, open its web browser at your workspace address followed by /tv — for example yourcompany.worklynq.net/tv. Use the TV’s own browser, Silk on a Fire TV stick, a tablet plugged into the TV, or a Worklynq Player.
  2. The TV shows a 6-character code. It changes every 10 minutes.
  3. In Show on TV, type the code under Connect a TV now and click Save and connect TV.
  4. The TV switches to the screen within a few seconds, and remembers it after a restart.

With a link

Click Save and get link and open the link on the TV, or paste it into a kiosk or digital-signage app. The link is shown once. Anyone with it can see the screen, so treat it like a key — New link replaces it, and the old one stops working.

Manage your screens

  • Show on TV lists the store’s screens with when each TV last checked in.
  • Turn off stops a screen immediately; the TV says it’s been turned off.
  • Players and their screens are managed in Operations → Screens & devices.

Worklynq Player Coming in the beta

The Worklynq Player is a small box behind the TV that shows your screen and that you control from Worklynq — no TV browser, stick, or tablet needed. It turns the TV on and off on a schedule, keeps itself up to date, and survives being unplugged.

In the store

  1. Plug the Player into the TV’s HDMI port and into power, and into Ethernet if there’s a port. (Wi-Fi can be set up before it ships.)
  2. The TV shows a 6-character code. A manager types it into Show on TV and picks what the TV shows.
  3. To let Worklynq turn the TV on and off, switch on HDMI-CEC in the TV’s settings — it may be called Anynet+, Bravia Sync, or SimpLink.

Screens & devices

In Operations → Screens & devices, managers see every Player: online or offline, what it shows, a recent screenshot, temperature, connection, and TV power. Select one Player or many and send Reload screen, Restart device, Turn TV on, Turn TV off, or Update software — they pick it up within a minute. Set a TV schedule for each Player (on and off times, days, and time zone; overnight hours work), and Worklynq flags Players that are offline, running hot, or whose TV isn’t responding.

Privacy and security

  • A screen shows one store and only the views you chose. It can’t open anything else in Worklynq.
  • Only a manager signed in to your workspace can connect a TV to it, and a TV shows your company’s name, so a TV connected to the wrong place is easy to spot.
  • Ticket titles that are end-to-end encrypted aren’t shown on a TV; the ticket type shows instead.
  • Turning a screen off stops it at once; a Player that was showing it goes back to showing a code.

Troubleshooting

The code doesn’t work
Codes change every 10 minutes — use the one on the TV now. Open /tv on your own workspace address, not another company’s.
The TV went back to a code or says it was turned off
Someone turned the screen off or connected another TV to it. Connect the TV again from Show on TV.
No Square orders on the TV
Link the store to its Square location in Square settings.
The TV turns off by itself
Check the TV’s own power-saving settings; on a Player, check its TV schedule.
