Features
Shifts
See who’s on duty, where, and since when. People start and end their own shifts — by tapping a button, or just by telling Assist — and if you use Square, Worklynq clocks them in and out there too.
What it’s for
- Staff clock in at the start of a shift, take breaks, and clock out, at one of your stores.
- Managers see On duty now for each store, or for every store at once.
- Shifts are part of the Operations module: each shift belongs to one person at one store.
Start, pause, and end a shift
On the Operations page
The On duty now strip shows who’s on shift and has buttons for you: Start my shift, Take a break / End break, and End my shift. If you work at more than one store, Worklynq asks Where are you starting?
With Assist
Open Assist and say or type “start my shift”, “clock me in”, “taking a break”, or “end my shift”. Assist does it straight away, since it’s your own shift.
Which store
Worklynq uses the store you name; otherwise your only store; otherwise the one you used last; otherwise it asks.
Who’s on duty
- The On duty now strip appears on the Operations page and, with a store chosen, on the Order Tracking board.
- It shows each person on shift, since when, and who’s on a break.
- Put it on a TV in the store with TV screens.
- Ask Assist “who’s on at Riverside?”
How shifts work
- One open shift per person at a time.
- Ending a shift also ends a break that’s still running.
- A shift open for more than 16 hours is marked over 16 h — usually someone forgot to clock out.
- Breaks are kept in Worklynq.
Clock in on Square
If your company uses Square, starting a shift also clocks the person in on Square, and ending it clocks them out. That happens when:
- Square is connected and the store is linked to its Square location, and
- the person is an active Square team member with the same email as their Worklynq sign-in.
If any of that is missing, the Worklynq shift still starts — the shift just notes why it didn’t reach Square, so you can clock in on Square by hand.
If Square was connected before clock-ins were added, a System Admin needs to reconnect Square once to allow them. Until then, shifts say Square needs to be reconnected.
Control
- If your System Admin sets AI to read-only, Assist can’t start or end shifts; the buttons on the Operations page still work.
- Apps connected to Worklynq can only change shifts with the Start and end your shifts permission. See Connect your AI.
