Construction & trades

Here’s how a general contractor runs a renovation job in Worklynq — from RFIs and change orders to inspections and the punch list. The example is the Oak Ave. renovation, with a project manager, a site superintendent, and two subcontractors.

A week in Worklynq

  1. Mon

    Plan the week

The project manager reviews the Oak Ave. roadmap: demolition is done, framing is next. This week’s tasks move onto the Team Board, grouped under the Framing milestone.

  2. Tue

    An RFI to the architect

The superintendent finds a beam size that doesn’t match the drawings and opens an RFI with photos. It’s tracked until the architect answers, and the answer stays on the ticket for anyone who needs it later.

  3. Wed

    A change order

The client wants an extra window. A Change Order records the scope, price, and approval, linked to the framing milestone so everyone sees the impact on the schedule.

  4. Thu

    Inspection day

The framing Inspection is scheduled on the ticket. When it passes, the inspector’s notes and photos are attached; if it doesn’t, the corrections become tasks.

  5. Fri

    Daily logs and safety

Each day the superintendent files a Daily Log — crew on site, weather, work done. A near miss with a ladder is recorded as a Safety Incident so it’s reviewed, not forgotten.

  6. End of job

    The punch list

Before handover, every small fix is a Punch Item under the final milestone. The client sees the list shrink, and the job’s dashboard shows what’s left. The project’s RFIs, change orders, and logs stay searchable for warranty questions years later.

Tips

  • Create one project per job and use milestones for the phases — demolition, framing, rough-in, finishes.
  • Keep your safety procedures and standard specs in Knowledge Center, and put the ones everyone should follow in the Knowledge Library, so AI answers use your standards.
  • Ask AI Search things like “Which RFIs on Oak Ave. are still waiting on the architect?”
  • Running a single crew with no need for sprints? Your System Admin can turn off Team Board and Roadmaps in Admin console → Work Configuration → Modules — nothing is deleted.
